Vibia Mayfair Table lamp Design Diego Fortunato

The Vibia Mayfair table lamp designed by Diego Fortunato for the Spanish brand Vibia is a modern implementation of a classic table lamp. This metal table lamp is available in four models; Matt graphite, matt white, matt gold or satin copper. The Vibia Mayfair table lamp is seen by the designer as an update of a lamp from the 18th century but with an innovative approach to aesthetics and technology. This is reflected in the use of new materials, LED light sources and the operation of the dimmer by means of an optical sensor. The Mayfair table lamp is 52 cm high and the hood has a diameter of 30 cm. In the Mayfair table lamp are 2 light sources that ensure an even spread of light. In addition to these versions with an aluminum hood, there are also two versions of the Mayfair table lamp with a polycarbonate hood available.

A LED light puts 90 percent of the energy into light and only 10 percent into heat. A conventional light bulb does exactly the opposite. A Led bulb consumes less power to produce the same light output. This is a considerable reduction in use of electricity and this is good for the environment. And LED bulbs have a longer service life than other light sources. So it’s cheaper and better for the environment to use Led light sources instead of conventional light bulbs. The light source of the Vibia Mayfair Tablelamp is a 17 Watt LED light source corresponding to the light output of a 75 Watt conventional light bulb. The color of the light is 2700 K, what we experience as  warm light. The LED Light source is included with the lamp.

Everyone has a deep and fundamental connection to natural light. It nourishes us in nature and soothes us in the build environments in which we work, live and love. At Vibia we believe that life is more joyful, beautiful and rewarding when you consider light. We always design with natural light at the forefront of our minds, finding ways for it to feature in every part of living, both now and in the future. We design beautiful, purposeful objects and we invite people to use them to conduct their own performance of light.

 Diego Fortunato

Diego Fortunato founded his first design studio in 1995 in Barcelona, his London design studio followed in 2011. The Argentinian-born designer’s lighting, urban furniture, rugs, upholstering, and limited edition objects reside between industrial design, sculpture and conceptual art. Deceptively simple, yet meticulously detailed, they show his constant search for theoretically possible concepts rather than merely shapes. He wants us to feel a story behind his work and sometimes his sense of humour and fantasy.
