Bubblicious Pendant Light Design Chris Kabel by Goods
The Bubblicious Pendant Light is designed by Chris Kabel for the Dutch design label Goods. He must have been inspired by the big bubbles you can blow with the Bubblicious bubble gum. This is also one of the most simple attributes of glass: the possibility to form bells that expand equally to all sides. The shape of this pendant lamp is constricted by blowing the glass into a frame. Each lamp is unique but the differences are minimal. The size is equal, 25 cm high and a diameter of 15 cm. This beautiful pendant light is available in blue, yellow (lime) or red glass.
The light source we deliver with the Bubblicious Pendant Light is a 6 Watt LED light source corresponding to the light output of a 40 Watt conventional light bulb. The color of the light is 2700 K, what we experience as warm white light.
Chris Kabel combines the conceptual aspect of a design with the practical aspect in many cases. He achieves this by developing new materials or by using ‘normal’ elements in a surprising way. In essence, Kabel tries to converge smart technical solutions and aesthetics in his designs. He is not interested in a distinctive style, he stays true to the inspiration he gets from experiments with materials and techniques instead. Where other designers are putting emphasis on craftsmanship or telling stories, Kabel mainly aims for the simplicity of form and intelligence of technical construction. Aesthetics follow in a natural way in his designs.
The brand Goods was founded in 1995, inspired by the human being’s ancient custom of gift-giving. Nowadays, the collection consists of prominent home accessories and small furniture by Dutch designers. These designers are both internationally acclaimed and young talents. Products from Goods are widely available in international museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Iceland Design Centre.
